The Bow House

The house features a distinctive, broad overhanging roof that seems to float over the house, with rooms curving in and out beneath.

The interior spaces flow smoothly from inside to outside, with bluestone terraces on both the east and west sides of the house. The living room, library, and master bedroom open out to the terrace on the east, with views to the ocean. The dining room and kitchen open out to the terrace on the west, with views to the meadow. The living room and library feature a dramatic curving glass wall, opening the interior space to the expansiveness of the ocean view. Interior finishes, including wide board maple floors, maple paneling ,round mahogany columns and trim details, and beaded fir ceilings were carefully considered to give the house the feel of a classic Maine cottage, while still retaining the drama and flow of modern interior space. The second floor includes three guest rooms and a dramatic, open stair hall. The guest rooms are organized with their own bathrooms and sitting areas. Each guest room has it\'s own distinct view, one up the coast to Higgins Beach, one directly out to the ocean and Ram Island, and one down the coast to Prouts Neck. partners Becker Structural Engineering Rousseau Builders Inc Candice Thornton Interiors all images © Brian Vanden Brink
